Study Abroad: Mixed Media and Printmaking in Chacala, Mexico with Miguel Perez and Larry Calkins
February 3-7, 2025 (5 sessions)

Join us for a weeklong mixed media printmaking intensive in Chacala, Mexico (1.5 hours north of Puerto Vallarta) where the jungle meets the ocean. This workshop is a unique opportunity to combine your love for art with the tranquility of a tropical paradise. Discover new techniques, connect with fellow artists, and let your creativity flow in the stunning backdrop of Chacala. Work for 5 days alongside and learn from the expertise of Maestro Miguel Perez in his studio (https://www.facebook.com/grafica.chacala) and the innovative approach of our own Mixed Media artist Larry Calkins Larry Calkins.

Create works that combine sketching, painting, and collaging. Printmaking will be available to those with previous experience. Be inspired by the petroglyphs at Alta Vista the ancient home of the Tecoxquin (2000 BCE). Swim in the warm waters of the Pacific.

Prerequisite: None Tuition includes lodging for seven nights (Saturday to Saturday Feb 4- Feb 10) giving students a day to explore Chacala.

Included are delicious Mexican welcome and goodbye dinners.

Note: A tuition deposit of $1150 is due upon registration and the remaining balance is due by November 24, 2024. Tuition costs do not include flight expenses.
 

Study Abroad: Powder Technique in Hotshop in Toyama, Japan with Takaki Miyamoto 
May 24-31, 2025 (8 sessions)

$1000/$1250 Member/Non-Member is due upon registration

Join us in Toyama, Japan, known for its glass art! Learn from Glass Artist Takaki Miyamoto about powder application techniques in Hotshop such as reducing and patternmaking. Participants will enjoy lectures, demonstrations, guidance, and studio time. Included are field trip in Toyama on 5/25, Lunch (5/25 - 5/31), Welcome party on 5/26

Prerequisite: One year glassblowing experience

Tuition does NOT include hotels and flights. Fumi is in contact with a local hotel to help students stay with $600-700 for 7nights in shared room (5/24 - 5/31). It includes breakfast and dinner. Students are welcome to find a hotel by themselves.

Workshop days: 5/26 - 5/31 (5 full days and a half day on 5/31)
