Job Title: 2016 Art Auction and Procurement Intern

Compensation: Pratt Points Volunteer Position or Unpaid Internship/Practicum for Academic Credit

Description: Pratt Fine Arts Center seeks a resourceful and motivated candidate to assist with its 34th Annual Fine Art Auction. Working closely with Pratt’s Development and Marketing staff, the Art Auction and Procurement Intern will gain valuable experience in non-profit administration, special event production, procurement, project management and data management.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Assist with auction procurement messaging and invitation mailing
  • Data entry and updates in event databases (Auction Tracker and Raiser’s Edge)
  • Support all communications with donating artists including deadline reminders, commissions and appropriate recognitions
  • Packing, storing and handling artwork as necessary
  • Assist with logistics for jurying process and catalog photography shoot
  • Assist with production of the auction catalog
  • Assist with production of bid sheets, artwork labels, and other auction materials
  • Assist with coordination of volunteer art handlers/packers during event
  • General volunteer coordination (scheduling, communication, leadership)
  • Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications Include:
  • Strong interest in local arts sector, particularly non-profit arts organizations
  • One year minimum experience working, studying or volunteering in arts or nonprofit organizations
  • Proficient computer skills, especially with Microsoft Office. Quick learner of required databases such as Auction Tracker and Raiser’s Edge.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • An accountable and resourceful person who can work both independently and as a part of a team
Event Description: Pratt’s Annual Fine Art Auction will be held at Bell Harbor International Conference Center along Seattle’s downtown waterfront on Saturday, April 30, 2016. The event, Pratt’s premiere fundraising gala, features over 200 original works of art, and promises to be the most exciting art auction in the city.

Structure: Position runs mid-January through the month of April, and requires on average 10 hours per week at Pratt Fine Arts Center; weekly schedule TBD based on candidate’s availability.  Additional hours and some weekend/evening availability may be necessary during the following dates:
  • Art Procurement Deadline – late Feb, 2016
  • Auction Jury and Photography Deadline– Week of March 21st, 2016
  • Art Transport and Installation – week of April 25-29th (extended hours on April 29th)
  • Event Date (extended hours) – April 30, 2016
Organization Info: Founded in 1976, Pratt Fine Art Center is an eclectic, hands-on learning and working environment serving students, hobbyists, and professional artists throughout the Seattle area. Pratt welcomes over 3,500 students and 300 working artists annually in the areas of glassblowing, cast glass, flameworked glass, metal sculpture, bronze casting, stonecarving, jewelry and metalsmithing, woodworking, printmaking, painting and drawing. In total, Pratt classes, exhibitions, lectures and programs touch more than 20,000 people annually.
