Pratt Presents Building Bridges by Celeste Cooning

Pratt Fine Arts Center is proud to partner with the Center on Contemporary Art to present Building Bridges, a retrospective of Celeste Cooning for the CoCA Lab: Artist in Residence program

Celeste creates site-specific installations to adorn storefronts, city parks, special events, and most recently the stage. Known for her cut paper works, Celeste has collaborated with Seattle’s zoe|juniper in their premier of BeginAgain at On the Boards. Her first permanent metal sculpture, Bounty, functions as a threshold for Jackson Park Trail in North Seattle with support from 1% for Public Art and the Seattle Office of Arts and Culture, harkening to the lush, abundant beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

CoCA Lab: Artist in Residence

Introducing the CoCA Lab, CoCA's new artist residency program, in which CoCA invites an artist, or group of artists, to transform the 5,000 square feet of Georgetown gallery space into an art laboratory.

Celeste will be at the gallery most days, Tuesday-Friday, 10am-4pm. CoCA is open to the public and encourages dropping in, so the public may visit, explore the art and chat with the artist. Please call to confirm that Celeste is at the gallery 206.728.1980

Celeste is the recipient of Pratt Fine Arts Center’s 2014 ArtBridge Fellowship, which provides educational and professional development opportunities for emerging Washington State artists.  Celeste’s ArtBridge experience will culminate in 2015 with a show of new work created during her time at Pratt.

The ArtBridge Fellowship

Support for Pratt Fine Arts Center’s ArtBridge Fellowship is provided by RBC Wealth Management and Chihuly Garden and Glass. The award may be used towards course work, supplies, studio rental, professional photography, and participation in Artist Trust’s EDGE Professional Development Program. The Fellowship includes educational experiences including gaining technical expertise, professional training, access to equipment, and an opportunity to engage with Pratt’s artistic community. Recipients will also be featured in a public presentation at the Chihuly Garden and Glass. MORE INFO
