NEA Announces $82 Million in Awards for Arts Projects Nationwide
These grants include $15,000 awarded to Pratt Fine Arts Center

SEATTLE WA, June 15th 2017—National Endowment for the Arts Chairman Jane Chu has approved more than $82 million to fund local arts projects across the country in the NEA’s second major funding announcement for fiscal year 2017. Included in this announcement is an Art Works award of $15,000 to Pratt Fine Arts Center to support the Master Artist and Artist-in-Residence programs. The NEA received 1,728 Art Works applications and will make 1,029 grants ranging from $10,000 to $100,000.

“The arts reflect the vision, energy, and talent of America’s artists and arts organizations,” said NEA Chairman Jane Chu. “The National Endowment for the Arts is proud to support organizations such as Pratt Fine Arts Center, in serving their communities by providing excellent and accessible arts experiences.”

“The generous support from the NEA allows Pratt Fine Arts Center to bring renowned Master Artists to our campus so they may share their unique perspectives from all around the world”, said Executive Director, Steve Galatro. “Pratt’s Master Artist and Artist-in-Residence programs promote an enriching, dynamic exchange between distinguished working artists and our creative community.”

This award makes it possible for Pratt Fine Arts Center to invite six nationally and internationally renowned artists to teach workshops in jewelry & metalsmithing, glass, sculpture, wood, painting, or printmaking. Each will also present a free public lecture. One additional artist will be selected for a month-long artist residency and in-studio exhibition in printmaking.
